Youngbloods mostly like to drive fast and need to know how fast a hoverboard can go. And how do they run their hoverboard at the fastest speed? This question arises in every rider’s mind. So let’s speed up and learn how to drive a hoverboard faster, its speed modes, etc.

Hoverboards are vehicles used as personal transport that can run faster if you want them to. You can make a hoverboard run faster by setting the mode at fastest and putting a little more weight forward to increase its speed. However, high speed can be dangerous, so it is necessary to learn speed control.

When you own something, it is necessary to know everything about it. Speed is an important part while riding a hoverboard. You should know about the maximum speed limit, factors contributing to high speed, speed modes for different riders, etc.

Way Of Moving Hoverboard Faster

Hoverboards have different speed modes by which you can control the speed limit. These modes are given because there are different riders, and not all can move the hoverboard faster. The beginners need to go slow in the start until they are proficient in handling the hoverboard. The ways of moving a hoverboard are as follows.

  • First, set the mode according to the speed you want.
  • If you are a beginner, set on beginners/training/easy mode, that is, mode 1, and medium/intermediate mode 2 for more speed and mode 3 for advanced speed.
  • Place your feet on the hoverboard and balance yourself riding a hoverboard.
  • Tilt your body forward to make it move in the forward direction.
  • To move the hoverboard faster, set the mode and bend a bit more towards the forward direction, so more body weight is put, and the gyroscope commands the logic board to move faster.
  • Don’t bend to the limit that you might fall.

How Do You Change Speed Modes On Hoverboards?

There are three speeds on the hoverboard beginner, medium, advanced, or freestyle. The mode and speed limit depends on the model of the hoverboard. You may wonder how you can set these modes on the hoverboard.

There are two ways by which you change or set a specific speed mode as per your wish.

  1. Manually by pushing the button
  2. By hoverboard application

By Pushing The Button:

On the non-Bluetooth hoverboards, speed modes get set by pressing the power button. You need to press-release the button. A sound of two beeps will be heard and set on basic mode. In some hoverboards, lights can also tell you which mode has been set. Repeat the procedure to set the hoverboard in advanced mode. In this mode, the speed will become faster than basic. Try riding it and see the difference by yourself.

By Hoverboard Application:

Many Bluetooth hoverboards have an application you can download on your cell phone. You can connect your hoverboard to the device and set the speed mode just by a single tap on your device. The application provides many options and makes it easy to handle the hoverboard with just a touch.

Factors Affecting Hoverboard Speed

Hoverboard speed depends on multiple factors. The fine the hoverboard, the high speed it has. These factors are mentioned as follows.

  • Wheel

The hoverboard with smaller wheels is for indoor riding or flat smooth surfaces. They don’t have that much speed compared to the big wheel off-road hoverboard. The off-road hoverboard is meant to ride outside on terrain surfaces and has high speed, so it can go through such rough surfaces. Also, there is no danger of falling as big tire hoverboards have a nice grip.

  • Body Weight

Every hoverboard has a weight limit so that it can work properly. If you exceed that limit, the hoverboard will take time to move forward, and more pressure will be exerted on the board.

For example, if the hoverboard limit is 100-150 lbs, the rider should weigh between this limit. A lightweight rider can easily move the hoverboard and travel faster as less force is exerted by the hoverboard.

  • Road’s Condition:

An important factor that contributes to affecting the speed of the hoverboard is the road’s condition. The hoverboard can move faster on flat, smooth surfaces than on rough ones. If the surface is not flat, the hoverboard will take more time, and the speed will be reduced on going uphill rather than downhill. It will also exert more force on grass and gravel, and the speed will get reduced. Hence, the place is also important where you are riding the hoverboard.

  • Battery

A hoverboard correctly works if it is fully charged. In this way, it can go for more long hours. If the hoverboard battery is low, it might trouble you and stop halfway. The hoverboard’s speed will also be slow; you must charge it again until it works smoothly.

What Is The Maximum Speed Of The Hoverboard?

The hoverboard’s speed varies depending on the model you have. A hoverboard’s average maximum speed is 10mph and can travel 6 to 8 miles on average.

Many hoverboards have 12 mph or 13 mph speeds. And others have less than this. However, riding a hoverboard at maximum speed is considered safe because the chances of falling increase, and any mishap can occur if the device gets out of control and you cannot stop it.

Do All Hoverboards Have The Same Speed?

Hoverboards are battery-operated devices. As mentioned above, the hoverboard’s speed varies depending on the model and factors like high-capacity motor, big wheels, rider weight, etc. The top-speed hoverboard can go 6-8 miles per hour. But not every hoverboard has the quality to do so. Every hoverboard is different in terms of quality, battery, size, etc. Hence, the speed is set according to the tendency a hoverboard can bear.

Is It Safe To Ride A Hoverboard Fast?

Generally, riding a hoverboard at full speed is not safe. It is because of this reason that many mishaps can take place. But if you still want to do so, then there are certain things that you need to take care of.

  • Don’t try this mode if you are a beginner, as it is a big risk.
  • If you are proficient and can control the hoverboard well, you can set the limit yourself.
  • Always wear safety gear.
  • Please ensure the battery is full and UL certified, so it doesn’t stop in the middle and doesn’t heat up.
  • Don’t go at high speed in public, as the chances of bumping someone increase.
  • Ensure to see the laws regarding the hoverboard before riding it.

Final Thoughts

A hoverboard, like any other vehicle, can move faster. The right way to move it faster is by setting high-speed mode and riding it by putting more weight in the direction you need. Although it is not safe until you are professional and wearing a helmet, knee pads, and other safety gear. So in case of any mishap, like if the hoverboard loses control and you cannot apply brakes, no harm is caused to the rider.
